Join us for the opening reception at Fort Whyte Alive, a rural, rustic and wildlife haven right inside the city limits! Enjoy local food such as bison, and dress warm for winter activities like tobogganing!

Canadian Museum for Human Rights – FEBRUARY 15TH, 2023

On this tour, you will learn what the Museum is all about. Your knowledgeable guide will invite thought and discussion as you wind your way through stunning architecture and interactive exhibits.

Snöfest – FEBRUARY 15TH, 2023
WinterPeg invites delegates of the Winter Cities Shake-up to join us on the world famous Nestaweya river trail for a one-of-a-kind tour of the beautiful Red River. Join members of the Scandinavian Centre and staff at Winnipeg Trails as we welcome you to fall in love with snow all over again. Learn about kicksleds, the one-of-a-kind mobile ski library, the snowman contest, enjoy Swedish snacks  and all the wonderful winter activities.

WINNIPEG ART GALLERY – FEBRUARY 15TH, 2023 – 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Enjoy an evening at the Winnipeg Art Gallery (WAG) after an amazing first day of networking, keynotes and breakout sessions. Enjoy a live performance by Indigenous artists Double the Trouble, and a private tour of the WAG’s newest addition, Quamajuq, home of the largest public collection of contemporary Inuit art in the world. Sample cocktail cuisine including pickerel, arctic char, roasted butternut squash + apple bruschetta, hosted by WOW Hospitality.

Witness the bright lights of the evening skyline from great views along the Esplanade Riel and the Provencher Bridge in St. Boniface, the heart of Manitoba’s Francophone community. Don’t miss the ice sculptures that herald the arrival of Festival du Voyageur or the towering beacon of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

The Leaf and Toboggan Party – FEBRUARY 17TH

Afterwards, enjoy a hot cup of cocoa and toboggan down the hill, breathing in the cool Winnipeg Air.

RAW: Almond and The Snow Maze – FEBRUARY 17TH
Step inside a once in a lifetime culinary experience on the Red River. Enjoy pastries and coffee prepared by Mandel Hitzer, a World Class Chef. Hear him speak about his story, past installations around Canada and the World.


Enjoy the challenge of the snowy maze, admire the snow carvings and buildings, slide down Snow Mountain, warm up by a bonfire, be brave and try the Giant Luge run, try a variety of snow games, and of course, a cup of hot chocolate!

FESTIVAL DU VOYAGEUR – FEBRUARY 17TH, 2023 – 7:00 pm – 10:30 pm
Our last evening is a wind-up at the largest winter festival in western Canada: Festival du Voyageur. Dive into a delicious grazing table filled with local meats, cheeses and a Canadian favorite, The Poutine Bar, at Fort Gibraltar’s La Maison de Bourgeois. Mingle with your fellow Winter Cities Shake-Up colleagues and friends and take a guided tour of the ice sculptures. Enjoy musical entertainment, maple taffy tables and all that the Festival has to offer. He Ho!
